TED Talk of the Day #021: Do what you love (no excuses!)

Event: Web 2.0 Expo 2008
Speaker: Gary Vaynerchuk
Bio: Gary Vaynerchuk’s Wine Library TV combines an irreverent approach to wine and a shrewd social media strategy. It won him web fame and the cachet to spin off book deals, new businesses and his own entrepreneurship consulting firm.

Gary says, “YOU HAVE TO DO WHAT YOU ARE.” He urges:

“Please STOP doing what you hate. There is NO reason, in 2008, to do shit you hate.”

More specifically, he invites you:

Look at yourself into the mirror and ask yourself, “What do I want to do EVERYDAY for the REST of my life”, DO THAT!

He clarifies:

“This is not about parties. We are doing businesses. You have to hustle.”

But there is a BIGGER GAME here. He says:

“Legacy is bigger than currency.”

What do you want your GRAND GRAND GRAND KIDS to know about you?

Barriers and excuses could be many! The secret is NOT to worry about scale, at least in the beginning. The mantra is MAXIMIZE PASSION.

He urges:

“You need to build brand equity. IN YOUR SELF. Because, you never know what can happen! Lehman Brothers….anything can happen….this whole space is gonna CRASH next year. Its gonna be awesome. Huge opportunities. GET READY …”.

The TIME IS ALWAYS NOW! Now is ALL THAT YOU HAVE! And, wonderfully, NOW IS MORE THAN ENOUGH to get what you want!
